| Q. |
I
get hot water, spitting out of galley tap. Is there air in line.
or the heat xchanger too hot. Almost like steam in line. only when
engine is at temp. I added an areator to the faucet? |
| A. |
Sounds
like you may have an issue with one of the following items. If the
system has been working OK before, then check the list below.
1. Leak in hose or pump.
2. Pump may be too old to hold proper pressure.
3. There may be leaks at fittings, or cracked fitting(s) that are
leaking air.

| Q. |
I
recently purchased a 1985 Mainship 36DC - the props are 22X23 and
the engine rpm max is around 3600. The crusader manual that came
with the boat indicates the rpm should be between 4200 & 4400
or the engines could be damaged. Do I need to change the pitch to
increase the rpm?
|
| A. |
You
may want to verify you have not issue with other components first,
before doing any prop work. Check gear ratio on transmission, and
also whether or not the plate inside the transmission is warped.
If the transmission fluid has a distinct foul odor, that indicates
the plate is warped. Verify the engine is producing proper horsepower
and compression. Bottom needs to be clean, as well as shaft and
other underwater gear. We show max rpm to be about 4200, so the
3600 is possibly due to something other than prop?

| Q. |
Does
the advertised displacement of 10,000 lbs for the Pilot 30 Express
(open) include the engine and transmission? |
| A. |
The
"dry weight" displacement refers to completed boat with
no fuel or other additional weight factors.

| Q. |
We
can figure out how to turn on the raw water wash faucet in the back.
Nothing comes out when you turn the facuet. What breaker turns it
on? Any other suggestions? |
| A. |
The
raw water pump is the one located on the starboard side of fwd bulkhead.
Engage switch (accessory switch on helm panel), depress breaker
then check to see if pump is running by touching pump. If still
not running, then either the jumper wire from switch to breaker
is not connected correctly or the pump is defective.
