Our Mainship Family of Owners

The Main Event, our owners' newsletter, is now digital for your reading pleasure! Stay tuned for our next issue. If you would like to view past issues, click here to View Back Issues Now .

Mainship Owners have a common thread...a kind of kinship that makes them unique and special among other boat owners. We know you love to get together. Mainship Owners' Clubs are growing all over the country and are doing very well. The clubs began as long ago as 1985 with the first New Jersey Mainship Group. Since that first group, clubs have begun in the Chesapeake Bay, the Pacific Northwest and the New England/New York area (Northeast Mainship Group).

These groups were formed to provide Mainship owners a forum to discuss the maintenance of their boats as well as coordinate rendezvous' and social gatherings in their areas. The monthly meetings host guest speakers that discuss navigational techniques, new electronics, repair tips, they even exchange recipes! It's all about sharing with each other the best way to enjoy owning a Mainship. There are 4 main groups that are going strong.

Here is an update from each one as well as a contact if you would like to join, or are considering purchasing a Mainship.

Welcome to our newest Mainship Owners' Group:

DEEP SOUTH MAINSHIP OWNERS' ASSOCIATION

The Deep South Mainship Owners Group began in July '07 and has already grown to 40+ members along the Gulf Coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle. Mainship Owners have a common thread... a kind of kinship that makes them unique and special among other boat owners. Although Deep South Mainship Owners is the most recent group, Mainship Owners Clubs are growing all over the country and are quite connected. The clubs began as long ago as 1985 with the first New Jersey Mainship Group. Since that first group, clubs now exist in the Chesapeake Bay, the Pacific Northwest and the New England/New York area (Northeast Mainship Group), Long Island Southshore, Old South Mainship Group of Georgia and South Carolina, and the Florida & Southeastern Groups. These groups were formed to provide Mainship owners a forum to discuss the maintenance of their boats as well as coordinate rendezvous' and social gatherings in their areas. The monthly meetings host guest speakers that discuss navigational techniques, new electronics, repair tips, they even exchange recipes! It's all about sharing with each other the best way to enjoy owning a Mainship!

1st ANNUAL RENDEZVOUS
Deep South Mainship Owners will host their 1st Annual Spring Rendezvous at Lulu's Homeport Marina on Friday, April 18 - Monday, April 21, 2008 in beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama.  Festivities will include a "Potluck" dinner on B-Pier where everyone will bring a specialty.  Please do not consider bringing gumbo or Big Easy infrared, oil-less fried turkey as this delight will have already been prepared.  Jimmy Buffett will be appearing in absentia via stereo.  Elvis sends his regrets due to prior committments.  Tim Jones and Eric Jung of Gulf Coast Hatteras have expressed interest in participating, possibly at The Wharf where their Mainship dealership presently resides. Perhaps we can all jump aboard a fellow Deep South Mainshipper's boat, or several boats, for the trek to The Wharf if diesel fuel costs go down a little and if Gulf Coast Hatteras will spring for the beverages.

It is of utmost importance to make your own reservations for your slip. You  must call Craig, Dockmaster at Lulu's Homeport Marina at 251-967-4529 to make your personal reservations.  With Boat U.S. membership, slip fees will be $1.50/foot.  This includes water, electricity, cable, and phone hook-ups with the opportunity to  tie up back to back with your fellow Deep South Mainshippers !  We presently have 12 slips reserved and they can accommodate a few more on B-Pier.  For a view of the slips you are assigned, please check this website:
